I've hijacked Murphey's blog to explain where we have been and why we haven't been blogging. Murphey had been acting lethargic, not eating too well, and he even attacked Reilly a few weeks ago. All this seemed unusual but the vet couldn't find anything wrong. Then he started really not eating, and when the vomiting and diarrhea started we rushed back to the vet and found out he had Pancreatitis. That required a few nights stay at the vet hospital and now he (and Reilly) are going to be on a low fat diet. The hope is that this is just a one time acute attack, but diet and monitoring will become a regular part of life around here. I just want my little guy to feel better soon.
Oh, and Reilly hates the food, but since I have a hard time keeping them out of each others bowls, the same food for both. Strangely enough, Mini Schnauzers that are over weight (Reilly) are more prone to pancreatitis so the diet is a good idea for him too.
We promise to catch up and start blogging again soon, but for right now I am too busy taking care of my sick pup.
Kathleen

Oh...glad Murph is going to be okay - yes only a one time thing we hope.
There's a lot of good veggies & fruits that make wonderful snacks....Just a shift in direction.
Hopefully Reilly won't be too upset for too long....

that's terrible about Murphey. we are sending him our healing vibes, poodle power and power of the Bs to get better fast. we hope you can find some food that everyone will like. our friend, Bailey Blue, the kerry blue terrier (not our Bailey) has pancreatitis too and she's been eating cottage cheese and rice balls, which she doesn't like either.
our vet told us once that schnauzers get overweight easily and they look like little german sausages. we thought that was funny, but not so much if it makes them sick.
get better soon, Murphey, okay?
woofs.
I'm sorry you are sick, Murphy! My cousin Patrick the cat had pancreatitis once. It is sure not fun at all. I really hope you feel better. I am a little sick right now too...my esophagus is enlarged, but it's getting better.
